In the early days, 475 was plagued by floods and leaks. The roof leaked when it rained. It flooded on bright winter days when the pipes froze and on sunny afternoons when the water tank overflowed. On one of these occasions when the water tank was dumping thousands of gallons creating a roof top swimming pool Nachman frantically beckoned some residents to a secret storage room. As the water ran from the roof down through the lower floors, Nachman pulled boxes of Frisbees from the room. He hastened everyone to spread the Frisbees around on all the upper floors to catch the water.
